3rd GRADE READING

We have been working on decoding strategies, and the kids know them well.

1- Get your mouth ready (to say the sounds in the word you are decoding)

2- Use your finger as a guide as you read.

3- Cover up the ending of a word and first read the base word.

4- Find rhyming words that you already know.

5- Picture strategy - Look for pictures & the word that may match the picture.

6- Try a different sound (if the first sound you try doesn't help).
